GOLD STANDARD
EDITOR ACADEMY

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

SOFTWARE

What editing software do I need for this course?

We strictly utilize Adobe Premiere Pro. Our advanced signature shortcuts and project architectures are built for this engine, ensuring you achieve maximum edit speed and cinematic precision.

Can I use Final Cut or DaVinci instead?

Our proprietary workflows and live screen recordings are taught strictly in Adobe Premiere Pro, as it is the global standard
for high-ticket studio collaboration. You can adapt the theory to other software, but you are on your own for technical execution.

I messed up my Premiere Pro workspace panels. How do I fix it?

Don't panic. If you accidentally closed a panel or dragged something to the wrong screen, simply go to the top
menu bar, click Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout. This instantly snaps  everything back to the default Gold Standard setup.

Where are the Masking Tools (Ellipse/Pen) in Premiere Pro 2026?

Adobe completely overhauled the interface in 2026. The circle, square, and pen mask icons are no longer in
the Effect Controls panel. You will now find them in the main Timeline Toolbar under the Object Mask Tool (it looks like a dashed square). Long-press it to reveal the Ellipse and
Pen tools.

I drew an Ellipse Mask, but the blue outline path disappeared!

This is a known bug in the Premiere Pro 2026 update. Go to the top menu, click View, and make sure Show
Rulers is UNCHECKED. Active rulers will mysteriously hide your manual mask paths on the Program Monitor.

What is the keyboard shortcut for the Razor Tool?

In our Gold Standard shortcut layout, we map the "Razor All" tool to X on the keyboard. This allows you to surgically cut
gaps in dialogue without reaching for your mouse.

What is the shortcut to instantly close gaps on the timeline?

We map Ripple Delete to F. When you clear away unselected speaking parts, just hit 'F' to instantly snap
the remaining clips together.

My computer is lagging heavily while editing 4K footage. What do I do?

You need to use our Proxy Workflow (covered in Module 1). Proxies are low-resolution duplicates (like 720p ProRes) of your heavy 4K files. You edit with the lightweight proxies, and Premiere automatically switches back to the 4K raw files when you export.

Do I need to learn Adobe After Effects for this course?

No. Cinematic wedding films do not require complicated graphics, flying text, or flashy transitions. Premium edits rely
entirely on beautiful pacing, masking, and simple cuts natively inside Premiere Pro.

Should I be editing on a Mac or a PC?

It does not matter. The Millionaire Editor systems, keyboard shortcuts, and folder architectures work identically on both macOS and
Windows operating systems.

Premiere Pro crashed and I forgot to save! Is my work gone?

Likely not. Premiere has an Auto-Save function. Navigate to your project folder on your hard drive, look for the folder
named Adobe Premiere Pro Auto-Save, and open the most recent project file listed there.

How often should my Auto-Save be set to trigger?

We recommend going into your Premiere Preferences and setting Auto-Save to trigger every 5 to 10 minutes.

My media says "Offline" and shows a red screen. What happened?

This means you moved or renamed a raw video file or folder on your hard drive after importing it. Right-click
the offline clip in Premiere, select Link Media, and locate where you moved the file on your hard drive.

Why is my audio playing, but I can't see the video tracks?

You likely disabled the Track Visibility. Ensure the "Eyeball" icon on your Video Tracks (V1, V2, V3) on the timeline is
toggled on (blue).

How do I fix a harsh echo or wind noise in the vows?

Use Premiere's Essential Sound panel. Tag the audio clip as "Dialogue" and gently apply the "Reduce Noise" and "Reduce
Reverb" sliders. Do not push them past 4 or 5, or the voice will sound like an underwater robot.

How do I scrub through footage faster without lagging?

Lower your Playback Resolution. On the bottom right of your Program Monitor, change the dropdown from "Full"
to "1/2" or "1/4". This lowers the quality while editing but does not aaect the final export.

How do I match colors from a Sony camera and a Drone?

Use the Lumetri Color panel. Select the clip you want to change, go to the "Color Wheels & Match" tab, click
"Comparison View," and use the "Apply Match" button to let the AI balance the skin tones and exposure

Why does my exported video look washed out on Mac displays?

This is a known gamma shift issue between Premiere and Apple's Retina displays. Use the "Gamma
Compensation" LUT provided in your downloadable assets during the export phase to lock in your true colors.

What export settings should I use for a final client delivery?

Always export using the H.264 or H.265 codec. Set your resolution to match your sequence (usually 1080p or 4K) and set your Bitrate Encoding to VBR, 2 Pass for the highest quality compression.

How do I quickly sync multiple cameras and separate audio?

Select all your camera angles and your external audio track in the Project bin, right-click, and choose "Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence." Set the synchronize point to "Audio" and let Premiere align them automatically.

My timeline is a mess of adjustment layers. How do I clean it up?

Highlight the specific section of clips and layers, right-click, and select "Nest." This collapses them into
a single, clean sequence block on your main timeline while keeping everything editable inside.

PRE-EDIT

Do I need to purchase a premium Dropbox subscription right now?

No. Initially, you do not need a paid Dropbox or Frame.io subscription. Clients will send you the link to their  premium cloud drives. You simply download the raw footage locally to your hard drive to  begin the edit.

What kind of hard drive do I need to edit these massive projects?

You must use a fast external SSD (Solid State Drive), such as a Samsung T7 or SanDisk Extreme. Do not edit
directly oa an HDD (Hard Disk Drive), as its slow read/write speeds will bottleneck your editing software.

How should I color-label my footage in the timeline?

Standardize your visual workflow immediately. For example: Use Green for A-Roll (Dialogue/Interviews), Blue for B-Roll (Visuals/Montage), and Gold/Yellow for Music. This allows you to instantly read your timeline's structure.

Should I rename the raw video files the client sends me?

Never rename the actual raw files on your hard drive (e.g., changing C001.MP4 to BridePrep.MP4). This breaks the
client's metadata. Only rename folders or use bins insidePremiere Pro to organize.

How do I handle a wedding project that has over 1TB of raw footage?

Do not drag 1TB of 4K footage onto a single timeline. Generate your low-res Proxies first, organize your bins
by time of day, and execute the Tier System to cull the footage down to only the "Gold Standard" clips before you ever start building a story.

What is the diYerence between my "Selection" and "Composition" sequences?

The Selection sequence is your dumping ground where you aggressively cull and filter the raw
footage. The Composition sequence is your pristine canvas where you actually build the story. Never edit and cull at the same time.

What makes a B-Roll clip "Gold Standard"?

During the culling phase, every clip must pass the 4-point test: Composition, Angle, Exposure, and Stability. If it fails even one of
these (unless it's an intentional stylistic choice), it does not make it to Tier One.

What do I do with poorly lit or blurry guest shots?

Throw them out. You are the Ghost Architect protecting the luxury brand of the studio. Do not include a bad shot just because
a guest is in it.

What are the rules for culling reception dancing clips?

The rules change for the dance floor. Stability is no longer required (handheld, unstable shots capture the energy),
and moving subjects are always better than stationary ones.

Should I include drunk or explicit dancing from guests?

No. Exclude explicit flashing, middle fingers, or sloppy drunken behavior. It cheapens the final product. We are producing
luxury cinematic films, not frat party recaps.

When should I sync the external audio to the cameras?

Audio syncing is step one of the Pre-Edit phase. You must sync all high-quality audio to your A-Roll (Speeches, Vows,
Oaiciant) before you begin the culling process.

How do I organize drone footage?

Keep drone footage in its own dedicated bin. Because drone shots establish geography and scale, you will need to access them quickly
when building your Intro and Story Bridge sections.

Where should I save my Premiere Pro project file (.prproj)?

Save it directly on the external SSD alongside your raw footage and proxies. If you move to a different computer,
the entire project stays self-contained and perfectly linked.

Should I completely delete unselected A-Roll clips?

No. In the Unmessy System, we move unselected dialogue to Video Track 1 and bump the premium dialogue to Video Track
2 or 3. If the client requests a longer film later, your backup dialogue is still resting safely on Track 1.

What is the best backup strategy for client files?

Once you download the 1TB of footage from the client, never keep it in just one place. If you have the drive space, keep a
copy on your editing SSD and a backup copy on a larger, cheaper HDD until the project is delivered and approved.

How do I handle audio organization in the project bin?

Create a master "AUDIO" folder with three strict subfolders: 1. SFX (Sound Eaects), 2. Music (Licensed tracks), and
3. Dialogue (External raw audio from mics).

What is the ideal Proxy resolution for 4K files?

1280x720 (720p) is the sweet spot. It looks crisp enough on your Program Monitor to judge focus and composition, but it is small
enough that your computer will process it eaortlessly

Should I create separate Premiere projects for multi-day weddings?

No, keep it in one master project, but build separate bins for "Day 1 (Rehearsal)" and "Day 2 (Wedding)."
Use separate Selection timelines to cull them so you don't overwhelm a single sequence.

What is the ultimate Pre-Edit Checklist?

1. Download. 2. Organize Folders. 3. Import to Premiere. 4. Generate Proxies. 5. Sync Audio. 6. Execute the Selection/Culling Phase. Only after step 6 do you actually begin editing.

Do I need to watch every single second of the raw footage?

Yes. You cannot build a masterpiece if you don't know the materials you have. Scrubbing at 2x speed is fine for
long, static ceremony angles, but your eyes must pass over everything.

EDITING

What exactly is the "Unmessy Non-Chronological System"?

It is the secret to jumping back and forth in time without confusing the viewer. We treat the spoken dialogue as the "anchor" and the B-Roll footage as the "sail." We let the words dictate the visuals, allowing us to show morning prep, sunset, and reception shots sequentially as long as they
fit the emotional context of the speech.

How do I keep viewers from getting lost during time jumps?

Use a "Visual Anchor." If the present-day audio is from a dark reception speech, and the memory footage is in the
bright sun, the viewer's brain subconsciously maps out: Dark Room = Current, Bright Sun = Memory.

What is the "Story Bridge"?

After the Hook/Intro, the Story Bridge is where we deep-dive into the couple's history. By the end of this section, the audience shouldn't just know
their names; they should feel a deep emotional connection to their history.

What is the "Second Bang"?

It is the visual peak that ends the Story Bridge section. It is a high-impact visual that makes the viewer take a breath and resets the emotional palate before transitioning into the calmer "Film Body" phase.

How do I build a montage of the couple without it feeling repetitive?

Ensure massive variation in your shots. Do not use three wide shots in a row. Cut from a wide drone shot, to
an extreme close-up of hands holding, to a medium tracking shot. Mix moving subjects with still portraits.

A speech has a funny joke, but it's slightly inappropriate. Do I keep it?

Cut it. If the joke does not elevate the groom or bride positively, it is not "Gold Standard." We only keep
dialogue that serves the premium narrative.

The best part of a speech has the speaker stuttering heavily. What do I
do?

Surgically cut out the stutters and gaps using the Razor tool (X), ripple delete (F) the space, and cover the harsh visual jump-cut with a beautiful piece of B-Roll.

How do I cull a 15-minute Best Man speech?

Ruthlessly. You extract only the most emotional, narrative-driving 30 to 60 seconds. Move the unused 14 minutes down to Video
Track 1 as a backup, and build the story entirely around the refined top track.

When should I place the music in the timeline?

Only AFTER the dialogue structure is built. The story dictates the music, not the other way around. Once your spoken narrative
flows perfectly, slide the music underneath to elevate the emotion.

How do I pace my cuts to the music?

Cut on the major beats or lyrical changes, but do not cut on every single beat, or the video will feel like a hyperactive music video. Hold
beautiful, emotional shots through the beat to let the viewer absorb the moment.

What if the client wants to change a shot in my final edit?

Because you used the Tier System, you never have to go back to 1TB of raw footage. You simply open your pristine
"Selection Sequence," find a Tier 2 B-Roll clip, and swap it instantly. Revisions take minutes, not days.

The lighting changes drastically during the reception. How do I fix the skin
tones?

Use Lumetri Color to isolate the skin tones (using HSL Secondary curves) and neutralize harsh DJ lights (like bright magenta or green) so the subject's face looks natural, even in a dark room.

How do I fix "dead air" gaps between sentences in the Story Bridge?

Do not let the video go silent. Fill these narrative gaps with "Highlight Moments"—a kiss, a laugh, a grand
entrance, or fireworks. Distribute these peaks evenly to keep viewer retention locked.

What is the "Calm After the Storm" section?

After a heavy, emotional pre-climax or intense vow exchange, the viewer needs an emotional reset. We drop the pacing, use
ambient audio, and show a quiet visual before ramping up the energy for the reception.

How do I handle audio from a windy outdoor ceremony?

You will learn Advanced Audio Rescue in the later modules. You must layer the audio from the lavalier mic (on the
groom) and carefully EQ out the low-end rumble of the wind, relying heavily on the spoken word to cut through the mix.

Can I cut one long clip into multiple montage shots?

Yes. If you have a beautiful 20-second continuous tracking shot, you can cut the first 3 seconds, discard the middle, and
use the final 4 seconds later in the timeline as two separate, impactful visuals.

What makes an Intro "cinematic"?

It is not about flying transitions. It is about hooking the viewer immediately with a compelling piece of dialogue, an establishing visual of the
environment, and a profound sense of atmosphere before the music fully drops.

How do I layer Foley/Sound Effects (SFX)?

Subtlety is key. If you show a drone shot of the ocean, softly layer in wave audio. If you show a dress zipping up, layer in a faint fabric
rustle. SFX should be felt, not consciously heard.

What is the "Ending Bang"?

The absolute final punch of the film. It is a memorable, high-impact shot (a sparkler exit, a final toast, a quiet closing door) paired with a musical
resolution that leaves the viewer with a profound sense of closure.

How long should my final wedding highlight film be?

Unless the client requests otherwise, the industry standard for a premium cinematic highlight is between 4 to 7
minutes. It must be all killer, no filler.

SUPPORT

I paid, but I cannot log into the course. What do I do?

Whop automatically sent an Order Confirmation to the email you used at checkout. Click the direct link inside that
email. If you still have issues, clear your browser cache/cookies and log into Whop directly.

A video module is constantly buYering. Is the site down?

Our videos are hosted on Vimeo's global enterprise servers. If you experience buaering, it is a local internet issue.
Vimeo automatically adjusts quality based on your internet speed. Try lowering the playback quality to 720p via the gear icon on the video player

Can I share my Academy login with my editing partner?

No. Access is strictly tied to one individual user. Our platform monitors IP and device logins. Account sharing triggers an
automatic, permanent ban from the Academy without a refund.

Where do I find the practice footage and shortcut PDFs?

All downloadable tools, assets, and raw practice files are securely linked directly beneath the video player of their
respective modules.

I don't see the "Next Lesson" button on my phone. What's wrong?

Wix and Whop are fully mobile-optimized, but sometimes screen orientations hide buttons. Turn your phone
horizontally (landscape mode) or simply scroll past the downloadable asset links to find the navigation buttons.

How do I join the private student community?

Your Whop access dashboard has a dedicated tab for the Student Community. Click it to join the private forum where you can
network, ask questions, and submit your practice edits for peer review.

I've completed the curriculum. How do I get my certificate?

We do not focus on meaningless paper certificates. The true validation of this Academy is the Gold Standard
portfolio piece you generate using our raw practice footage. Your final edit is your certificate.

Does the Academy cover how to invoice clients and accept payments?

Yes. In the final Business modules, we break down how to use platforms like Wise, PayMongo, and
Stripe to professionally invoice international studios and safely move your $6,600/month income to your local bank account.

Will I lose access to these videos next year?

No. As a founding member of the Gold Standard Editor Academy, you secure lifetime access to the core multimedia modules,
meaning you can revisit the Live Edits whenever you are working on a tough client project.

How long does it usually take to finish the masterclass?

While the course contains 26 comprehensive modules, you control the pace. If you dedicate 2 hours a day, you can
absorb the material, set up your workflow, and execute the practice edits within 2 to 4 weeks.

I lost my custom Keyboard Shortcut file. Can I get another one?

Yes. You can return to Module 1 at any time and re-download the Custom Keyboard Shortcut guide from the
asset section below the video.

I encountered a billing error on my monthly installment. What happens?

Whop handles all subscription billing automatically. If your card declines, Whop will temporarily
pause your course access and send you an email to update your payment method. Once updated, access is instantly restored.

Do you offer live 1-on-1 coaching?

The Millionaire Editor Course is a self-paced, pre-recorded masterclass. However, enrolled students can use the private community forums
to ask specific technical questions that peers and moderators can address.

My Premiere Pro subscription expired. Do you provide software?

No. You are operating as an independent business owner. The enrollment fee covers the Academy
curriculum and workflows. You must manage your own Adobe Creative Cloud software licenses.

How do I price my very first project after graduating?

Do not race to the bottom. In our Business Modules, we teach you how to target premium studios. Do not charge $50.
Pitch your newfound cinematic storytelling value and aim for the $400 to $660 range immediately.

A client said my $660 rate is too high. What should I do?

Stand your ground. You are not competing with cheap AI generators or entry-level VAs. You are providing a service that
saves a luxury studio dozens of hours. If they don't value the "Ghost Architect," move on to
a studio that does.

Are there download limits on the practice footage?

No, but the files are massive (high-bitrate 4K). We highly recommend downloading the entire zip package once,
unzipping it directly onto your external SSD, and keeping it there so you don't have to
download it multiple times.

The Vimeo video player says "Private Video." What do I do?

This means your browser blocked a cross-site tracker required to verify your enrollment. Make sure you are not using
a strict ad-blocker or Brave browser's "Shields Up" feature on the Academy page.

How do I submit my final practice edit for feedback?

Export your final 5-minute highlight film using the H.264 settings, upload it to your own free YouTube or Vimeo
account as an "Unlisted" video, and post the link in the "Peer Review" tab of our Whop community.

Will the course be updated if Adobe changes Premiere Pro again?

Yes. If massive architectural changes happen (like the 2026 toolbar overhaul), we will provide quick
"Bridge" tutorials in the Support modules to keep your Gold Standard workflow operating
flawlessly.
